Sarah Winders
Counseling Specialist: Licensed Professional
Counselor
I am Sarah and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I earned a Master of Arts degree from Xavier University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling following a Bachelor of Science degree in Substance Abuse Counseling from University of Cincinnati.
Fun fact about me: I am learning Mandarin and Spanish in the hope of broadening my world through travel, communication, and someday providing assistance for non-English speaking clients.
I view the counseling relationship as a team approach in which the client and clinician form a relationship based on trust. As the clinician, I will provide empathy and unconditional support while we navigate your journey together, focusing on obstacles or barriers that may be holding you back. When working with couples, I employ short-term Imago Therapy to facilitate open communication between the partners and assist both individuals in establishing a connection through dialogue. This is the basis from which damaged or strained relationships begin to heal. My approach is short-term and solution-focused. Many clients only need 6-12 sessions in order to achieve their goals in therapy.
In addition to couples and individual therapy, I am qualified to provide addiction counseling. I offer a holistic approach to recovery in which I assist clients in identifying what is driving the substance use or behavior. We then work as a team to make the changes needed to achieve freedom from addiction and overall wellness.
I look forward to meeting you and walking beside you on your journey.

My name is Iten Elyassaki. I am a compassionate Clinical Mental Health professional with 6+ years of experience in cross-cultural counseling serving many clients with diverse needs. I enjoy traveling and have worked with children, adolescents, and adults, in individual, couple, family and group settings.
Because each individual is unique, I use a variety of therapeutic interventions to develop a holistic understanding of human behaviors, emotions, patterns and thought processes. I have certifications and advanced training in Cultural Competency, Crisis Intervention, Neurocounseling, Chemical Dependency & Addictions, Human Development, CBT and Mental Rehabilitation.
As a strong interpersonal communicator with keen perceptivity and focused ability, I am committed to working collaboratively with you to explore personal challenges and struggles in depth. It is my passion to guide you to gain practical insights and take positive steps to ultimately lead the balanced, happier and more satisfying life you envisioned.
We all have a story to tell, I’d love to hear yours…

When I meet with clients for the first time I often ask them the question "How would you know counseling was working for you?" Commonly, the client will begin to discuss a different experience they would like to have in their life. This may be in a relationship, career stressors, a life transition, loss/grief or experiencing overwhelming emotions like anxiety, depression, loneliness, guilt, or fear. Answering this question helps us to gain clarity about what you want to experience in your life and begin the process of bringing it to fruition. My mission is to best serve your needs and help you to move toward your vision for the future. I provide counseling and coaching to individuals, couples and families.
My approach to counseling is very experiential in nature. This means that in our time together we will work to create a shift in your experience that will provide you with a new possibility and a tangible change to occur in your life. Clients have reflected that the most rewarding part of this work is the shift they experience in the way they feel, think and interact both with themselves and others.
I have found that merely giving clients more information is not helpful. Rather, the insight, intuitive knowing and resources needed to experience change are located within each client. I believe clients are the experts on their own lives and my work focuses on helping clients to reconnect with and access this within themselves. I draw on my experience with solution-focused therapy, gestalt therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and existential therapy to guide my practice. Additionally, I train in the martial art of Aikido and utilize my experience in Aikido to help clients build awareness, presence and a greater sense of inner peace and stability.
I enjoy a counseling/coaching relationship where we maintain a high degree of integrity, communication and openness. I believe empathy and understanding are essential for transformation and healing. I also find that my ability to build trust with clients and challenge them is vital for growth and learning.
My education includes an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Xavier University and a BA in Psychology from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

Rebecca Strayer (Lange)
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
Hi, I’m Becky! I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and obtained my master’s degree at Xavier University.
I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults, and have years of experience working at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in the psychiatric residential units as well as Beckett Springs Hospital as a partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient therapist. I have helped individuals with a variety of issues including challenges with life transitions, work and relationship issues, anxiety, depression, PTSD, self-injurious behaviors, grief, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and low self-esteem. I utilize dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy and trauma informed care.
I believe it is important to create a safe and understanding environment in order for my clients to feel comfortable processing thoughts and emotions. One of my goals as a therapist is to help you feel back in control of your emotional health and current life circumstances. We do this through learning and practicing skills to manage stress, improve emotion regulation and effective communication, and increase compassion in ourselves. I will work with you as a teammate to help you feel like your true self.

Hi, my name is Leah. You, your family, and I are not that different. We are people who must figure out a way to get through the pains of existence. We’ve seen good times and hard times, dealt with challenging relationships, and adapted to life changes. I’ve chosen to devote my life to understanding pain and finding ways to alleviate it.
I have a unique background for a mental health professional. For the past 7 years I’ve been running a financial and accounting firm, (no, I don’t have any hot stock picks for you and yes, I do use one of “those” calculators). My favorite part about being a financial professional and entrepreneur has been sitting down with individuals, couples, organizations, and families and empowering them to improve themselves, their businesses, and relationships. As a clinical mental health professional, I find absolute fulfillment supporting and challenging clients on an even deeper level without leaving behind my talent for analysis and problem solving.
I believe therapy is effective not because you get to talk to an unusually kind person in a comfortable room, but because it allows you to challenge yourself in a safe environment with a person you trust. I look forward to learning your goals and helping you live your best life through unwavering support, humor, directness, and honesty.

Christian Myton
Counseling Intern
Christian@samnabilcounseling.com
Hi! I’m Christian.
I am the new Intern, completing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with Malone University (Canton, OH);
I am licensed as a Counselor Trainee by the Ohio Counselors, Social Workers, & Marriage and Family Therapists Board.
I also currently work at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in the Department of Psychiatry as a Mental Health Specialist. I work with young children and adolescents who are needing inpatient assistance; so,
I see many diverse individuals with mild to severe psychological illnesses.
For my undergrad, I attended the University of Cincinnati where I was a Student-Athlete (Men’s Soccer), and I obtained double-major, bachelors' degrees in Psychology & Communications.
While completing these degrees, it became clear to me that the way we think and talk about ourselves and our experiences truly shape the way we approach the events in our lives.
More importantly, the support systems that we build, can help us through some of life’s most difficult trials. In my counseling,
I aim to be a part of that support system by providing a relaxed, non-judgmental, and uplifting environment as we discuss how to best meet your personal goals and desired outcomes.
No matter what challenges you might be dealing with, whether it’s personal or interpersonal, I approach each session with the belief that everyone deserves to be respected and attended to with compassion, acceptance, and kindness.
I value everyone I meet for the unique individual that they are, and I look to bring out the best version of that person imaginable.
I look forward to meeting with you and assisting you however I am able.
